Parameswaran Namboodiri (Well Known as Aniyan Thalayattumpilly)

Born on October 25, 1950, Aniyan Thalayattumpilly hails from the historic Thalayattumpilly family in Kurichithanam village, Kottayam District, Kerala. As the son of Narayanan Namboothiri and Savithri Antherjanam, Aniyan’s lineage is deeply rooted in the community, with previous generations playing a pivotal role in the development of their village through the establishment of schools, libraries, and other initiatives.

Aniyan graduated with a degree in Physics and devoted nearly 36 years to a distinguished career in the banking sector. He is married to Leela Kulangara, and together they have three children: Thushara, Varsha, and Varun.

Inspired by his teacher P. Sivarama Pillai and the influence of local libraries, Aniyan began his writing journey in college magazines during his teenage years. Over time, his writing expanded from public magazines to a broader array of media. In his retirement, Aniyan transitioned from traditional print to digital platforms, including blogs and social media. His literary works span various genres, including Balasahithyam, detective fiction, short stories, spiritual writings, and travelogues. His most notable work is “Achu’s Diary,” a series of engaging conversations between a grandpa and a child, reflecting on life in the USA compared to India. Running for over 11 years with 500+ episodes, it gained significant popularity on social media.Aniyan’s upcoming biography, “ Kalam Kadha, Kazhchapadu “ , is set to be published at the Sharjah International Book Fair in November 2024.

In addition to his literary accomplishments, Aniyan has made remarkable contributions as an environmentalist, focusing on preserving and expanding a mini-forest around his ancestral land. He has transformed the area near his home into an eco-friendly bio/meditation park, planting over 400 trees and plants across 14 different themes. This ongoing project surrounds his family temple and the sacred grove (Sarppakavu). This also becoming a reference for many botany and medical students. His vision extends far beyond his own project. Aniyan has visited numerous places, offering his insights and advice on nature conservation and development, which has been highly appreciated by many. He was honored with the “Paristhithi mithra and Vanamithra Award 2023 by the Kerala Government Forestry Department.
